How does the semantic search work?

Accepted Answer

Unlike keyword search, Emily’s semantic search understands the meaning of your query. Ask natural questions like "What has the government said about NHS waiting times?" and Emily will find the most relevant results across all parliamentary data sources.

How does Parliament monitoring work?

Emily syncs daily with official UK Parliament data sources, including Hansard, the Questions API, and the Bills API. She processes new activity and filters it based on your sectors and issues of interest.

Can Emily draft emails and documents?

Yes. Just ask Emily to draft a follow-up email, policy summary, position paper, or talking points. She’ll generate a draft you can review, edit, and send.

How do I log an engagement?

Daily briefings include new parliamentary questions and debates relevant to your sectors, stakeholder activity, upcoming committee sessions, and any commitments or follow-ups due.

Can I track specific stakeholders?

Yes. Add any MP or Lord to your tracked network. Emily will monitor their parliamentary activity (questions asked, debates spoken in, votes cast, and committee appearances) and include updates in your briefings.

What data sources does Emily cover?

Emily indexes 16 live data sources: Hansard transcripts, Bills & Legislation, Written Questions, Oral Questions, Divisions (votes), Early Day Motions, Select Committees, Statutory Instruments, Financial Interests, MP & Peer Profiles, GOV.UK announcements, GOV.UK consultations, and curated policy news feeds. It also covers the Scottish Parliament in full, including Official Report debates, written questions and bills. For the Welsh Senedd and the Northern Ireland Assembly, Emily holds members only, so you can look people up but not search their proceedings or bills. The Senedd open-data feed was withdrawn with no replacement, and the NI legislation service stopped returning data.

Can I export data and reports?

Yes. You can export Bills, Divisions, Questions, EDMs, and other data as CSV or PDF. The Report Builder lets you combine multiple data sources into branded reports with keyword filtering.

How does billing work?

Emily has two plans after a 7-day free trial: Standard £69/month, Professional £149/month. Annual billing saves two months. Small teams are arranged directly, seats on request. Manage your subscription, update payment details, or cancel any time through Settings → Billing.

How do credits work?

Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance: Standard 200, Professional 700. A quick question costs about 1 credit; deeper research or document drafting costs a few more. Daily briefings and tracked stakeholders don’t use credits. You can see your remaining credits in Settings → Account, and buy a one-off top-up pack there if you ever need more: Emily uses your monthly allowance first, then the pack, and a pack runs down once. It never renews.

How do I change my sectors or issues?

Go to Settings → Preferences and update your tracked sectors and issues. Emily will adjust immediately.

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Emily runs on Supabase with Row Level Security enabled on all tables. Your data is isolated per user and encrypted at rest and in transit. We never sell or share your data.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, cancel anytime from Settings → Billing. You’ll retain access until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees or long-term contracts.

How accurate is Emily's data?

Every piece of data in Emily comes directly from official UK Parliament and GOV.UK APIs. Emily never fabricates data: all AI-generated summaries and briefings include direct “View Source” links to the original parliamentary record so you can verify every claim. We do not editorialise or add commentary to official records.

Is Emily GDPR compliant?

Yes. Emily is operated by Sinatra AI Ltd, registered in England & Wales. All personal data is processed in accordance with UK GDPR. We use Supabase with Row Level Security for data isolation, encrypt data at rest and in transit, and never sell or share your data with third parties. Parliamentary data is sourced from publicly available official APIs. You can request data deletion at any time.

How is my data protected?

Emily uses Supabase with Row Level Security (RLS) enabled on every table, meaning your data is strictly isolated from other users. All data is encrypted at rest (AES-256) and in transit (TLS 1.2+). We use Sentry for error monitoring with PII stripping enabled, and PostHog analytics respects your cookie consent preferences.

Where is my data stored?

Your account data and parliamentary records are stored in Supabase (hosted in the EU), with semantic search embeddings held in the same database via pgvector. AI conversations are processed via Google Gemini with no data retention on their side. We do not transfer personal data outside jurisdictions covered by UK adequacy decisions.

Can I request data deletion?

Yes. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Alternatively, email support@emilypolitics.com with a Subject Access Request (SAR) or deletion request and we will process it within 30 days as required by UK GDPR.

What security certifications does Emily have?

Accepted Answer

Emily follows security best practices including: encrypted data at rest and in transit, row-level security for data isolation, rate limiting on all API endpoints, CRON_SECRET authentication on background jobs, Sentry error monitoring, and regular dependency audits. We are working towards SOC 2 Type II certification.
