Written questions awaiting an answer

Every written question whose official expected answer date has passed with no answer on the record, by answering department. The expected date is Parliament’s own, recorded when the question is tabled and computed in sitting days, so recesses are already allowed for. A question appears here only when that official date has passed and our copy of the record of answers is complete beyond it.

Methodology

A question is counted here when all of the following hold: it was tabled in the 90 days up to the record-complete date shown above; it has not been withdrawn; no answer appears on our synced copy of the official record; and its official expected answer date, as recorded by Parliament’s Written Questions system, falls before that record-complete date. For the small number of questions (fewer than 0.1 per cent) whose record carries no expected date, we substitute the tabled date plus seven calendar days.

Days outstanding are calendar days from tabling to the record-complete date, not to today: our copy of the record of answers trails the official site by a sync cycle, and during recess by longer, so measuring to today would overstate every figure. An answer published after the record-complete date shown simply has not reached our copy yet; the board re-measures daily and such questions drop off as the record catches up.
